Fastline Cycles of Fremont, California, Wrenches Two Racers to the AFM’s Top Steps at Infineon Raceway

July 10, 2011

Two Fastline Cycles supported racers win the AFM’s Formula Pacific and Formula AFemme Cycles racer Chris Siglin and his Fastline Cycles crew overcame an eventful weekend to celebrate a coveted win in Formula Pacific, the American Federation of Motorcyclists’ premier racing class.

Things weren’t looking great Saturday afternoon, when Siglin highsided his BMW S1000RR in practice coming out of Turn 7, severely bruising his right shoulder and leaving the bike looking “REALLY REALLY bad,” according to Caelee Bettencourt-Torres, the 11 year old daughter of Fastline Cycles crew chief Alex Torres.

But Torres, with over 20 years of experience working in the racing industry, Ray Perez and Siglin all worked diligently to fix the broken bits and whip the bimmer back into winning shape. At best, the team was hoping for a top five finish in Formula Pacific, but from the first few turns of the race it was clear that Siglin and his Fastline Cycles crew were in the running for a win.

“What a roller coaster of emotions this weekend, that highside on Saturday shook me up pretty good and left me hurting. After my first race on Sunday I thought I might be in trouble for the longer premier race. Once the race started I just got in the zone and started to feel that winning was very possible – our bike was fast!”

Siglin would also like to thank his sponsors:, Fastline Cycles, CT Racing/Pirelli Tires, Tri-Valley Moto, Kyle Racing, Helimot Leathers, CZ Chains, Rock Oil, MotoWheels, Z2 trackdays, GO Pro, MotoGloss, Ace Custom Graphics, KH Coaching, and all my great friends and family.

Also celebrating a win this weekend was Christie Cooley, on her 2009 Yamaha R6 prepped and built by Fastline Cycles. On Saturday, Cooley won Formula AFemme, the country’s largest all female motorcycle road racing series. 14 women made the grid, including some visiting riders from WERA and WSMC, who were at Infineon contesting the California State Championship’s Formula Femme.

Nursing a serious hip laceration suffered June 12 during a cycling race, Cooley didn’t even think Round 5 with the AFM would be possible. “That was my first ambulance ride…and hopefully my last. I’m just so happy I was able to make the grid and save my points leads in AFemme and CSC. Without Alex’s motor work and bike prep I wouldn’t even be here right now.”

Cooley would like to thank Alex of Fastline Cycles, along with Pirelli Tires, CT Racing, Leo Vince, ACT Racing, G&B Cycle Pro, Mission City Signs, and her rockin’ pit crew.
